VISVAS = Visionary Initiative to Sculpt a Virtuous Academic System!
Behind these heavy words lies a simple elegant solution to problems, both big and small, which students face during their college life and do nothing about it and that is – “Bring Change!” Be it fighting to improve campus infrastructure or creating awareness about important issues or building easy channels to disseminate information, VISVAS has proven its might across several areas.
VISVAS’s activities are driven by three basic principles : Inspire – Facilitate – Create. They firmly believe that these are three characteristics of any change and each of these three is essential for bringing about change. VISVAS began as a small student initiative and has grown to be a registered non-profit and has also expanded its reach to other educational institutes in Delhi University. VISVAS is best known for its Reading room and Library initiative, the Online Exam archive and development of online video based introduction to academic courses.
Dayitvya is one of the most interesting projects of VISVAS. Contrary to most popular BPlan and entrepreneurship competitions, Dayitvya requires students to propose solutions to existing problems in the campus and take on the responsibility of realization of the proposed concepts. To quote, “Dayitvya is not a regular BPlan competition ending in presentation of ideas; here idea is just the beginning.”
I had heard about the idea of VISVAS from one of the co-founders (and a good friend), Bhushan Shinde, last year during the summer. To see it grow from an idea to full blown organization is immense pleasure for me!
Hope education institutions across India remain driven by the idea of change and inspire, facilitate and create it!
